Carly Hoffman's story

Cancer sucks. Everyone knows someone who has been impacted by cancer, and my story is no different.

I ride for my grandma who lost her battle to leukemia three years ago. I spent every day growing up with my grandma while my parents worked. She taught me how to cook and bake. She let me cheat at Skipbo when my grandpa wouldn't, and we spent many nights together staying up late laughing at Laverne & Shirley reruns on TV Land. She loved selflessly and cared deeply for her family.

I ride for Brenda Goldner who lost her battle to brain cancer five years ago. As the mother of my lifelong best friend, Jessa, she became a second mother to me. She constantly had a full car picking us up from all of our extracurricular activities in high school. She helped me prepare for musical auditions when she knew I wasn't confident enough to practice in front of anyone else. She was an incredible artist and created the most beautiful and intricate sets for the our high school's musical every year. I spent nearly every day after school sitting in the Goldner's kitchen talking with Brenda. She shaped my best friend into such a thoughtful, bright soul, and I am eternally grateful.

I ride for the children and families I met through BuckeyeThon at The Ohio State University. No child should have to endure cancer treatments.

BellRinger is a bike ride and a year-round effort to end cancer. I've made a commitment to fundraise, and I hope you will donate to my Ride and support life-saving cancer research at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
