The Mill Creek Bicycle Club is a group of friends from all over the country who are optimistic that we can achieve a future where all cancers are curable, and we are realistic about what it is going to take to get there. We've joined together to raise funds to support groundbreaking cancer research at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Our team gets its name from Mill Creek Park, an unassuming park established near Youngstown, Ohio in 1893. The park was built up over the next 50 years by the tireless efforts of local residents to become a mainstay for the community in Northeast Ohio. Mill Creek was the home of our Team Captain's grandfather, Joseph Timko. Joe passed away following a long battle with Leukemia in the fall of 2020. He felt most at home and content spending his time in Mill Creek Park. Joe believed in the power of incremental efforts to bring about transformational change. Our team name is our simple way of honoring him and the community he loved so deeply.
We ride for all of our friends and family who have been and will be affected by cancer. We believe by doing our part, we will leave a lasting impact on cancer research.
