Team Balfour-Beatty Gilbane has been involved with BellRinger since the 2022, raising over $100,000 to date in support of Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. 👏🏼

This year, the team is 18 members strong, with 13 Riders and 5 volunteers joining us for BellRinger Weekend. Whether they are checking Riders in at Ride Start, cheering on Riders as they cross the Finish, or riding 25, 50 or 100 miles, Team Balfour-Beatty Gilbane will be represented in every aspect of BellRinger Weekend! 🚴🏽‍♂️

THREE DAYS until we ride!

Meet BellRinger Volunteer Seth Lucash, a musician and cancer survivor who has found healing through his lifelong passion for music. After his cancer diagnosis in 2015, music became more than just a creative outlet—it became a way to live passionately through his journey with cancer. Fast forward to today, he’s using his music to give back to his team of doctors by donating the proceeds of his song “Livin on Borrowed Time” to BellRinger 🎶👏🏼

“Ending cancer takes a village, and that’s exactly what BellRinger is—a village of bikers, volunteers, and supporters coming together to raise money for cancer research. I felt like I was part of that village, and that’s a great feeling, as a person and a cancer survivor.”

Another day closer to the best weekend of the year!💚

Meet first year Rider Dr. Alaa Ali, a leader in bone marrow transplants and cellular therapy at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, where he’s transforming cancer treatment for patients battling blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma. Through innovative therapies like CAR T-cell therapy, Dr. Ali’s work is offering new hope to patients battling cancer.🩺

“Cancer treatment is constantly evolving, and we’re just scratching the surface of what’s possible.”

Third-year 100-mile Rider Chuck Mannix began his journey with BellRinger on Team Washington Gas as a solo Rider in 2022. Over the last two years, Chuck has been committed to engaging Washington Gas and growing their BellRinger team, and for 2024, will be riding with 15 of his colleagues by his side 🚴🏽‍♂️

“I’d like to see BellRinger grow so big, so impactful, that it becomes a part of the fabric of this city. When you get to that point, it’s not just about the Riders — it’s about everyone being involved in their own way.”

Eight days until we Ride! 🚴🏽‍♂️

First-year 50-mile Rider Bryan Weselman is an MD-PhD candidate at the Georgetown University School of Medicine, where his research dives into how cancer manipulates the immune system, focusing on finding ways to help the body fight back.

Diagnosed with cancer last summer, Bryan balanced treatment and studies, emerging cancer-free in March 2024. Now, he’s riding in BellRinger, sharing, “Every single day that I can go for a run or bike ride reminds me how grateful I am to have beaten cancer and get back to who I was before.”

“BellRinger is a great way for us at Accenture to build community within community. It was a way, as I came into this new role, to share with others my own story and hear and learn other stories, which allows us all to get to know each other on a whole new level. I’m hoping that as we, unfortunately, see more people’s lives upended by cancer, that BellRinger is something that grows and is something that we keep raising money and awareness for until we get cures and treatments that, one day, will prevent anyone from losing a loved one to this disease.”
