BellRinger on the Block: May Edition

May was a fun one. Check out where we’ve been and what we’ve been up to this month!

Whew! Where did May go? It feels like just yesterday we were launching registration and starting off our year with our community. Over the last month, we have made our way around the block and have had the chance to hang out with many returning Riders and volunteers, teams who are rebuilding for 2023, and hundreds of brand new Riders gearing up to take to the roads this October. While the month has gone by in the blink of an eye, we could not have hoped for a better one.

Training Rides

May was the month where training rides officially made their return. We had the pleasure of hosting our first two rides in Ballston, VA for our 25-mile Riders, guided by our leaders from Dream Rides. Thankfully we were accompanied with fantastic weather and even better views on the trails going into Clarendon. Our favorite thing about these rides that, just like BellRinger Weekend, they are not a race! They are meant to get the legs moving and the blood pumping to make it up those dreaded hills. Featured are some action shots of our crew and group pictures.

Bike to Work Day

Last Friday was 2023’s Bike to Work Day, and we had a blast talking to hundreds of people about our mission of ending cancer with Georgetown Lombardi. Our team was spread out across four different locations across the DMV — Rosslyn, Bethesda, Georgetown, and Downtown DC. Although it was an early morning wake up for us, we weren’t the ones biking to work! Thousands of residents in the area ditched their cars and saved some metro money and hopped on their bike. Along the way they were offered snacks, drinks, and a bunch of swag from groups across the area. It was a day we won’t soon forget!

With almost 300 Riders registered and 64 teams growing each day, we couldn’t be more excited to plunge into June with a new level of energy and excitement. This will be a summer you don’t want to miss!
