Rider Dan Herlihy is back for year two taking on the 100-mile course in BellRinger 2023! He has been an advocate for BellRinger’s mission and passionate to support Georgetown Lombardi in their pursuit to end cancer as we know it, raising over $3,400 in 2022. We encourage you to join Dan out on the road this October for a Ride you won’t forget! Here some words from Dan himself:
“I’ve been involved with Lombardi for over 20 years – invited to attend a gala as a guest of Liz Shepard many years ago and have only missed one since that first invite. Having grown up in Arlington and attended Catholic school for 12 years, I’ve always been a Hoya fan and now an even bigger fan of the Lombardi Cancer Center. Growing up, we lived across the street from one of Mrs. Lombardi’s best friends, so I had the opportunity to meet her on numerous occasions.
From a work perspective, I have worked in Clinical Trials for the past 24 years. Although my job spans most therapeutic areas, we do a lot of work in Oncology and have been part of many drug approvals throughout my career.
I started training for my first triathlon 15 years ago – bought my first bike as an adult and haven’t stopped riding! It was a natural fit for me to participate in the Inaugural Ride and I’m already looking forward to this year’s Ride. In BellRinger 2022, the entire weekend was so well organized and executed – kudos to everyone involved! I loved the course and the rest stops were filled with so much positive energy and great snacks to keep us going.
My favorite moment this past year was a very quiet moment riding alone where I was able to remember the friends and family that have passed due to cancer and those currently fighting. It made the ride that much more impactful to know we were all out there raising funds to support research so we can win this battle and save lives.
Thanks to the Bellringer team, the sponsors, the volunteers and the Riders. Special shout out to my dear friend, Liz Shepard – THANK YOU for getting me involved in such a great organization and for all you’ve done to support Lombardi.”
